I hope you are well and managed to arrive home safely without getting wet!!!

Please click on the link to access this week’s homework.

I,especially look forward, to seeing the research you find on any of the Black People under the ‘Black History Month’ section.

Remember the structure you used in class today:

  • Who are they?
  • When and where were they born? When did they die (if they are not alive)?
  • What are they famous for?
  • Any interesting facts about them?

She inspires me and Olivia a lot!

Mary Seacole was born 23rd of November 1805.

She died because of a stroke or apoplexy in her home.

She was famous for all her medical work in the Crimean war and  she saved many many lives.  She was a nurse.

Mary travelled to England when she was 16 years old!!

Mary was mixed race and she married a white British man, she never got remarried after his death.

Mary was also a businesswoman.

Mary was forgotten after her death which was in 1881. Historians rediscovered her story but that was in 1980 and that is only how we know today.
