The homework this week looks at:

Please, upload pictures of your wonderful creations.
I will be posting again during the day, with some other activities you can do over the weekend (World Book Day related).

Also make sure the 4 BEEPS are clearly heard on the video you send me and you keep the music playing non stop from start to finish. The video you send me should be about 4 minutes and 40 seconds long.

Hi Year 5, welcome back to Module 2 of your Jam-Bus Online Music lessons with me, Mr Spoerer .
This Module we are exploring “The Orchestra” which is truly the biggest most awe inspiring style of music because it involves so many people playing so many different musical instruments.
WALT: How to learn the different “TIMBRES” or “sounds” of each instrument in the “Woodwind Section” of the Orchestra and be able to identify them just from hearing each instrument’s “Quality of Sound.” This is what Timbre means. It’s a french word that means exactly how an instrument sounds, and the different noises an instrument can make and how it makes that noise.
Colour these and post to the blog your favorite instrument.
500 bonus YUMU points for those who do.
We’ll continue focus on the Pitch, (high or low notes) of each instrument and the name of each pitch. The highest being Soprano, Mid to highAlto, Mid to LowTenor andlowest which is Bass. We’ll also explore Whistle, Double Reed and Single reed sounds of Woodwind instruments.
We’ll also know the names of each instrument in the Woodwind Section.
The highest being High Soprano, Piccolo Mid to highAlto Flute, sopranoOboe,Mid but large range Clarinet, the Alto Cor Anglais, LowTenor to bass Bassoons andlowest which is the ContraBassoon.
Watch this video to learn the names and sounds of the “Woodwind section” of the Orchestra.
Use this for more music work. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and find the video called “BBC Philharmonic’s Whistle-Stop Tour of the Orchestra and complete the linked Ten Pieces worksheet.” Only do this if you didn’t do it last week.
On the BBC Website You can watch the Orchestra playing all the instruments and fill in worksheet provided on what you can hear. Please take a photo of your completed sheets and post to the blog so i can see your great pictures.

In today’s lesson, we will be using Nearpod. We will, be discussing what well being is and how we can best manage our wellbeing with a particular focus on the changes that will be occurring next week.
Are you mentally prepared for your return? What can you control about your worries? Who can you talk to?
We will discuss this and anything else you want to discuss. All the work, will be done within Nearpod, so there will be no worsksheet for this lesson.
11:00-14:15: During this time, you are expected, to complete the work for all three subjects, independently and upload it to the blog.
*LESSON 2: MATHS – Divide 2 Digits By 1 Digit (2)
Today, you will continue with the work you did yesterday, using counter and the place value grid as well as flexible partitioning. The exception, is that the focus will be remainders. Sometimes, when you do a division, there will be a number left over. This is called the ‘remainder’.I would advise, that you all, use the strategies (place value chart and flexible partitioning) to help you with your understanding of remainders.
Rule – Remainders must be smaller than the divisor (divisor = the number you are dividing by).
Remember to use your perseverance and resilience skills if you’re finding it tricky!
*LESSON 3: LITERACY – To Write The First Part Of The Opening
In today’s lesson, you will write the first part of the opening scene to the story of Oliver Twist. You will need to use your plan from yesterday’s lesson, so make sure you have it to hand. I have also attached an example of how your writing should look.
09:30-10:00: We will go through today’s work, discuss any issues, check all your links work and that you are able to open the documents and videos. It is your responsibility, to look at the independent work and make sure you understand is expected of you. Lastly, looking at today’s non screen activity task and kindness task.

In today’s lesson, we will be planning the first part of our opening scene. We will look at each frame (each scene) in detail and generate ideas which will help us with your big write. As always. this lesson will expect you to use expanded noun phrases, verbs and adverbs. Time conjunctions and a person’s ‘actions’, will also be discussed.
11:00-14:15: During this time, you are expected, to complete the work for all three subjects, independently and upload it to the blog.
*LESSON 2: MATHS – Divide 2 Digits by 1 Digit
Today, you begin a new topic with maths, division. Division is breaking a number up into equal parts. In this lesson, you will be dividing two digits by 1 digit, when dividing you are moving the digits to the right – the number is getting smaller. The lesson, will be using place value counters and flexible partitioning as strategies to divide. As always, your times table knowledge will help you when it comes to calculating division questions.
Which of today’s strategies did you like the most? Why?
Remember to use your perseverance and resilience skills if you’re finding it tricky!
