*LESSON 2 – MATHS – Measure Perimeter

This week, the focus in Maths is perimeter, you looked at this on Friday during your Mathletics session.

Perimeter is the distance around the outside of a 2D shape.

Many of you may find today’s lesson slightly difficult as it does require you to print the worksheet but it not impossible. I said, difficult not, not possible!!!

For Q 1, 2, 3, 7 & 8 – you can do it off screen. For a couple all you’ll need is a ruler or even a tape measure (like a builder uses – even a clothes measuring one will work fine!) to draw your own. If you don’t have anything to measure with or you’re unable to print, rather than doing Q 4, 5 & 6, I’d like you to try and measure a few things in your house – the perimeter of your table, the perimeter of your bedroom and the perimeter of a door frame in your house. If you don’t have a ruler or anything to measure, you could measure with your feet or with A4 pages – these are roughly 30cm long so if you managed to go around your table 15 times with an A4 page your table has a perimeter of 4.5m!

*LESSON 3 – RE -The Gurdwara

We are coming to the end of our learning on Sikhism. Today, you will be learning about The Gurdwara. The Gurdwara is the Sikh’s holy place of worship. It also has another name/meaning. What is it? (you need to watch the video to find out!!!). As always make sure you have pen and paper, to make notes from the video, as this will help you, when you do your independent activity.

*LESSON 2 – Maths: Divide by 10, 100 & 1000 (Recap)

This week’s topic is division. Today you will be dividing by 10, 100, 1000. Division is splitting a number into equal parts or groups. Dividing can also be known as ‘sharing equally’.

You have done this in the past, so I am expecting, that a majority of you should feel confident in doing the independent work. Many of you may find that you finish the worksheet quite quickly. If that is the case, I want you to attempt the extension worksheet.

When watching the video, make sure to take any notes, if it will aid in your understanding of how to divide by 10. You can go back or pause the video as many times as you want!  When working out your calculations, use a place value grid to help aid your understanding. You will, as always, need pen and paper.

The digits will either move one, two or three places  to the right.

10:00-11:00: Live Online Lesson 1: Literacy – Deforestation

Continuing with deforestation, today’s lesson will look at the way in which you can counter your arguments.  We will be looking at the way in which we make our point and how we support our point. We are building, on the 5 points you made and how we can turn them into an argument. 1 point = 1 argument. We will be using P.E.E. What is P.E.E? So, have your mind maps with you and as always pen and paper.

To support you in your writing, use this wordmat to help you vary your sentences in your arguments. It will help to, again, make your writing more interesting.

*LESSON 3 – Thematic -Write a Diary Entry

Start by watching this video – it explains the task, tells you to download this information pdf to use as your research and there is a modelled write to help get you started.

The task is to write about 3/4 of a page in first person as a Viking person. You’ll need to choose your job, where you live, what your hobbies are and what your religion is. It’s a bit like a diary entry so you’re allowed to be informal. Remember, you’re creating your character, so you can be anything – as long as it’s historically accurate. Upload before 14:15 if you can – if you can’t take photos then there is no reason you can’t simply type it up in your homework upload. Remember – no excuses!

14:15 – 15:15: Live Session – AFTERNOON CATCH UP

Will discuss today’s work – was it easy/just right for you/difficult/challenging?

We will, also, see who has collected dojo points for the day.

Our daily dose of  ‘quiz time’, finishing off the day by continuing to read The BFG.

See you at 09:15.

09:30-10:00: Together we’ll go through today’s work and discuss any issues. Once that’s clear, I will give you time to make sure all your links work and you are able to open the documents and videos. Also, you should take a look at the independent work and make sure you understand is expected of you. We will also talk about kindness and introduce a kindness task, every morning,  to be completed throughout the day.

Can I remind you all that no one should be in their pyjamas or in bed! Everybody should also make sure that they have eaten their breakfast before the register is taken. The register is taken at 09:25. This is a learning environment and I need you to take it as seriously as you do, when you are in class. There should, also, be no personal discussions or spamming via the chat unless advised to do so!

*LESSON 2 – Maths: Divide by 10 (Recap)

This week’s topic is division. Today you will be dividing by 10. Division is splitting a number into equal parts or groups. Dividing can also be known as ‘sharing equally’.  For example 20 divided by 4 = ? If you take 20 rubbers and put them into 4 equal groups, there will be 5 rubbers in each group. 20 divided by 4 = 5

The digits move one place to the right.
