Good morning Venus,

Here is today’s schedule:

09:15-09:30: Log into our google meet. Say good morning to your classmates. As always, there will be early morning work to active those muscles in your grey matter. Today’s early morning work will be on the screen, ready and waiting for you to complete.

09:25-09:30: Register.

09:30-10:00: Together we’ll go through today’s work and discuss any issues. Once that’s clear, I will give you time to make sure all your links work and you are able to open the documents and videos. Also, you should take a look at the independent work and make sure you understand is expected of you. We will also look at todays’s non screen activity task and make sure we are able to carry out today’s kindness task (it is related to the assembly Mr Winbourne gave yesterday).

Can I remind you all that no one should be in their pyjamas or in bed! Everybody should also make sure that they have eaten their breakfast before the register is taken. The register is taken at 09:25. This is a learning environment and I need you to take it as seriously as you do, when you are in class. There should, also, be no personal discussions or spamming via the chat unless advised to do so!

10:00-11:00: Live Online Lesson 1: Maths: Multiples of 10, 100 & 1000

Today, we are looking at multiples of 10, 100 & 1000. We will be using our previous mathematical knowledge, our times-table knowledge and other “known facts” to answer complex operations.

So, if:

3 x 4 =  then 30 x 4 = 120.

5 x 7 = 35 then 5 x 700 = 3500

You will, as always, need pen and paper.

Today’s main worksheet Multiples of 10, 100 & 1000

Today’s ‘support’ worksheet for those of you, who are finding the main sheet overly challenging Multiples of 10, 100 & 1000 Support

The extension worksheet, if you manage to finish the main worksheet, dives deeper into Multiples of 10, 100 & 1000

11:00: Assembly (epsassembly3)

11:30: This is also, an opportunity for any of you who found yesterday’s work challenging, to join Miss Warby’s room (epsvenus2)

***INDEPENDENT LEARNING*** ***LESSONS 2 & 3***

11:00-14:15: During this time, you are expected, to complete the work for all three subjects, independently and upload it to the blog. Do not to undertake your non screen time activity as I do not want you to be in front of the computer/laptop/tablet/phone screen all day.

*LESSON 2 – LITERACY – Introduce an argument

Today is the day!!! Today is the day, you do your ‘big write’. You will be writing a persuasive letter, in order to highlight, the devastating effects of deforestation. You will be using, all the elements from this week’s literacy lessons to compile your letter. You will need to make sure that you have at least 3 P.E.E statements/paragraphs and your counter arguments from yesterday. The expectation, is that a majority of you, will be able to write a letter that is at least a page long.

*LESSON 3 – PSHE – Understand how our actions affect ourselves and others

You’ll need a pen and paper and some time to reflect and write down a few thoughts. Start by watching this video from Mr St Aimee, one of the Year 5 teachers from Cypress Primary School.  At the end Mr St Aimee goes through 3 scenarios. He guides you through the first.

Your task for the day is to reflect on the 2nd (leaving rubbish behind is the action) and 3rd (practising your spelling) scenarios and what the consequences are for those actions.

14:15 – 15:15: Live Session – AFTERNOON CATCH UP

  • Will discuss today’s work – was it easy/just right for you/difficult/challenging?
  • You will share your non screen time activities and see how many of you were able to complete the kindness task.
  • We will, also, see who has collected dojo points for the day.
  • Our daily dose of  ‘quiz time’, finishing off the day by continuing to read The BFG.

See you at 09:15.
