Good morning Venus,
Here is today’s schedule:
09:00-0925: Say good morning to your class mates. EMW.
09:25-09:30: Register.
09:30-10:00: Together, we’ll go through today’s work and discuss any issues. Once that’s clear, you will check to make sure all your links work and you are able to open the documents and videos, as well as looking at the independent work and making sure you understand is expected of you. We will also look at today’s non screen activity task and set today’s kindness task.
Can I remind you all, that no one should be in their pyjamas or in bed! Everybody should also make sure that they have eaten their breakfast before the register is taken. This is a learning environment and you need to take it as seriously as you do, when you are in class. There should, also, be no personal discussions or spamming via the chat unless advised to do so!
10:00-11:00: Lesson 1 – Live Online: LITERACY – Infer Meaning From Images
In today’s, live lesson we will be reading the first few pages of The Viewer by Shaun Tan. Though, the main focus of this lesson, are the images. You will be using your inference skills to deduce meaning from the many strange and curious images that the book contains. You’ll do this, by answering questions verbally during the lesson and as part of your independent activity.

How does inference help you as a reader?
11:30: This is also an opportunity, for any of you who found Friday’s work challenging, to join Miss Warby’s room (epsvenus2)
***INDEPENDENT LEARNING*** ***LESSONS 2 & 3***
11:00-14:15: During this time, you are expected, to complete the work for all three subjects, independently and upload it to the blog.
*LESSON 2 – MATHS – Area of Irregular Shapes
Building on the work you did yesterday (compound shapes), today, you will be finding the area of irregular shapes. Irregular shapes differ from regular shapes due to their shape.

Today’s ‘support’ worksheet for those of you, who may find the main worksheet challenging Area of Irregular Shapes Support
The extension worksheet, if you manage to finish the main worksheet, dives deeper into Area of Irregular Shapes Extension
To complete the extension you will also need Area of Irregular Shapes Extension Grid Paper
*LESSON 3 – SPELLINGS – Homophones and Near Homophones
Today’s spellings will focus on homophones and near homophones. You will have your spelling test, tomorrow, 04/02/21.
You will need a dictionary, as you will be writing the meanings for each word. Once, you have found the meaning, you then need to use the word in a sentence, this allows you to make sure that you have used it, in the right context.
E.g. Alter (verb), means to change something, usually slightly, or to cause the characteristics of something to change.
We had to alter some of our plans.
Also, this is another opportunity to increase the words in your vocabulary. These will be your spelling words for next week’s spelling test.

Here you can find this week’s spelling list – you can also print it off and practice your handwriting.

I have also attached the word search, that we normally do in class, to aid you further in learning your spellings Word Search.
